Winifred “Wynn” Jean Hall Harris, 93, a resident of Montgomery, AL, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 29, 2020. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery in Titus, AL for immediate family only. Wynn was a dedicated wife, a loving mother, a fun grandmother, a joyful great-grandmother, and her servant’s heart was known to all her family and friends.
Wynn was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Montgomery and the Tower Sunday School Class. She was a lifelong professional educator, earning three degrees from Auburn University, the last being her PhD in English Education. Her teaching career began at Huntingdon College and she retired from Troy University. Wynn served as President of Hillcrest Garden Club and was President of the Francis Marion DAR Chapter. She also was an accredited flower show judge in the Alabama Federation of Garden Clubs. Some of her favorite hobbies were growing plants and arranging flowers. She was a world traveler, going all over Europe and Egypt. Wynn was also a longtime member at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and the Delta Zeta Montgomery Alumnae Chapter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nick W. Harris, Jr.; parents, Gola B and William Bryan Hall, Sr.; and brothers, Durwood Hall and Reuben Douglas Hall, Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Katherine “Kay” Harris Wherry (Steve), Elizabeth “Beth” Harris Garcia (Frank); grandchildren, Cameron Wherry (Emily), Jean Wheeler (Crosby), David Wherry (Savannah), Michael Garcia (Carrie), Mary Beth Helton (Lonnie), Bryan Garcia, and Anna Garcia; great grandchildren, William Wherry, John Wheeler, Virginia Wynn Garcia, Grace Louise Garcia; and brother, William Bryan Hall, Jr. (Mary). Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tower Sunday School Class.
