Yvonna Nail Richardson died on August 9, 2016 at her home in Montgomery, Alabama. She was 62 years old. As a lifelong educator and children’s advocate, it is impossible to count the number of lives Yvonna touched during her 40+ years as a teacher and administrator at Green Gate School. Her love of theater and creative arts inspired her teachers, students and loved ones for decades. Yvonna was never without an art project – she loved both creating and giving them. Her selflessness, compassion and natural drive to help others made her a true friend and confidant of many. Those lucky enough to call her friend were never alone in times of need, and could always count on her love and support.
Yvonna dreamed big and pursued her passions. She was a smart, determined, natural leader, having served children and families through the many organizations she led and supported. Yvonna’s zeal for life, sense of humor and unmistakable laugh made her a great story teller and always the life of the party. She was fun and fun to be around. Devoted mother, daughter, wife, friend, teacher, artist, leader, animal lover, Sunday school teacher, Girl Scout troop leader, party thrower and all-around go-getter, she will be missed by all she served.
Yvonna is survived by husband, Lt. Col. Kenneth Richardson, (USAF Ret.) and daughters Karoline McGrail (Eddie) and Emily Hardie (Blair).
A Memorial Celebration will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 8570 Vaughn Rd., Montgomery.
