Avis de décès de André Laurin

Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges

Remembering a life well lived

André Laurin passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2024, after a valiant battle with a rare form of cancer.

Born on November 28th, 1961, to Margaret (née Pliberschek) and the late Joseph Cyrille Laurin.

A graduate of Concordia University, he commenced his career in the financial services industry but soon discovered his passion as a serial entrepreneur. He built several successful businesses from the ground up.

A smart, hardworking, warm, funny man, he was also quietly generous and believed in helping others. As such, André served on the board of the Fondation Arbour for many years and contributed his time and knowledge to internship and mentoring programs for university and C.E.G.E.P. students. His enthusiasm and optimism were infectious. The epitome of carpe diem, his outlook on life was that every day was an opportunity to do and be better.

He loved to ski, race cars, cycle, roller blade, and golf. Vacations were spent exploring and immersing the family in local cultures. André was a true adventurer; scuba diving, hiking, and world travel were his favorite outlets. He loved hosting barbecue dinners with friends and family, and always treasured each moment. Above all, he was a deeply dedicated father, husband, son and brother. His family was his universe. He always attended his children's extracurricular events, cheering and whistling the loudest in the crowd. He was incredibly proud of his family and was the most supportive father and husband. He was the type of person you can spend hours talking about anything to, always listening with an open mind.

André will be profoundly missed by his wife Tokiko Toguri, his children, Maxime, Alexa and Xara, his mother Margaret Laurin, his dog, Thiago, his sisters, Silvia Setton and Christina Laurin, her husband Brian Keliher and their daughter Emily.

He was very charismatic, making friends everywhere he went. He knew many people and was a loyal friend, but in his personal life he was especially private. In keeping with his wishes, a small private family ceremony will take place at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, his family's wish is for donations to be made to McGill Sarcoma through The Montreal General Hospital Foundation: https://bit.ly/3RVsDOV
