Born on March 12, 1950, in Dulag, Leyte, Philippines, Benedicto built a life rooted in service, community, and devotion to family. In 1987, he and his wife began a new chapter together when they moved to Montreal, Quebec.
Benedicto completed his post‑secondary studies at Leyte Colleges. He later earned a degree in Criminology and went on to serve as a police officer in Manila. In Montreal, he continued his commitment to community through his involvement with the Filipino Catholic Mission of Montreal, where he served as a parish administrator, and as a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus. He also contributed his time and leadership as an ex officio of the Federation of Filipino Canadian Associations of Quebec, and volunteered with Kalihukang Bisaya and the Filipino Association of Montreal and Suburbs.
Among his many accomplishments, Benedicto took particular pride in his work as a union representative at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, where he advocated with integrity and compassion.
Outside of his community work, Benedicto found joy in simple pleasures. He loved playing basketball, watching boxing matches and cooking shows, and spending time in the kitchen perfecting dishes for his family. He had a talent for handiwork and a gentle touch with plants, tending to them with the same care he offered the people in his life.
He was known for his humor and lighthearted spirit. His favorite saying was, “If you’re genuinely good looking, even the simplest clothes look like a statement.” He will be remembered most for the playful pranks he shared with his wife—moments that filled their home with laughter.
Benedicto leaves behind his loving wife, Imelda; his daughters, Charity and Donnalyn; and his cherished granddaughters, Angelee and Amithy.
