It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our most precious and beloved mother Caterina Anania Sama into eternal life to be with the immediate and the Holy Family. Cherished and adored wife of 60 years of the late Giuseppe Maria Sama.
Caterina was born in Isca Sullo Ionio, Calabria, Italy, daughter of the late Guerino Bruno Anania and the late Teresa Lucifero.
She will be deeply missed and affectionately remembered by her devoted children Pino, Lucia (Peter Paraskevopoulos), Adriana (Steven Doré) and Brunino, her adoring and treasured grandchildren Patrizia, Karina and Sasha, her late brother Angelo (Marisa Gatto), her late brother Antonio (Elsa Abate), and her sister Rosetta (Antonio Liyoi), her Zio Bruno Lucifero (Zia Maria Corapi), sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews with their respective families, relatives, and friends both in Canada and Italy.
Caterina’s greatest accomplishment and pride was her adoring family. Recognized, implicitly for her unassuming matriarchal role, exercised with much courage, strength, dedication, humility, unselfishly and with profound love.
Remarkable in facing challenges and situations. Complete devotion to her family, while imparting deeply-rooted human qualities and family values. She left this world as she lived, peacefully and quietly.
Heartfelt gratitude and recognition to the dedication and excellent care and support of the Jewish General Hospital’s medical team, Dr. Blair Schwartz’s and all of the staff from K-6 ward, the CLSC Bordeaux-Cartierville, caregivers, extended family and friends for their relentless support.
Her memory will live on in the lives of all those she touched and inspired
