Beloved wife of Hans Witte, cherished mother of Jacquelyn Witte. She will also be deeply missed by her brother, as well as other relatives and friends.
Cora Chan was born in Iloilo City, Philippines during the remaining years of World War 2. She was the 3rd child of 4 siblings. Raised valiantly in a Christian household by a single mother, Cecilia Somes Chan, Cora forged ahead with her studies to receive her bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Central Philippine University and was the first sibling to leave the country for the United States to start her career through a nursing immigration program. Her time at the Texas Medical Center in Houston was short and her final home was made in Montreal where she met her husband, Hans Witte, and became Cora Witte. They were married for over 50 years and had a daughter, Jacquelyn Cecile Witte. Cora worked at a number of hospitals around the island: Jewish General, Montreal General, Children’s hospital, to name a few, before settling at the Montreal Neurological Hospital where her successful career there spanned over 30 years until her retirement. Cora Witte’s life is a testament to love of family, service, and generosity. Rest in peace my beloved mother.
A memorial will be held with the family on 30 March 2024 at Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges 2-4pm.
