It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Don Mask on January 23rd, at the age of 91. Beloved husband to Eva, devoted father to Ingrid and Adrian (Julie), and cherished "Baka" to his grandchildren Bechir, Rafael, Eve, and Christina, Don leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Don was born on March 31st 1933 on Mask Island in Barrys Bay, Ontario. He eventually ventured out to the big city of Toronto to attend Saint Michael's College followed by McGill University in Montreal where he met Eva, his future wife., He was the youngest of nine children with a remarkable presence that commanded a room with his flair for drama, charm and fun-loving ways. He was fiercely proud, strong-willed and opinionated but full of life. His passion for life was contagious, and he infused every moment with energy and enthusiasm.
Don’s passions included strawberry winemaking, sausage making, cooking, and, perhaps most notably, crafting moonshine. He had a lot of friends and enjoyed spending time with them, sharing stories, laughter and a glass of wine (or two or three...). Always living life to the fullest and planning the next party or adventure with his beloved Eva, he never stood still.
He had an insatiable love for live music, always seeking out the next venue or performance where he could soak in the sounds of flamenco, gypsy, old-style country, or anything from Frank Sinatra to Johnny Cash. Music was the rhythm of his life, bringing people together and sparking countless cherished memories.
Don was a proud man. His big presence and larger-than-life personality will leave a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was a legend to those that knew him and we will miss him dearly.
Rest easy dear Don & Stolat !
A private funeral mass will be held for family and close friends. The family appreciates your love and support during this time.
