Ernest Newton

NEWTON, Ernest "Ernie" John Born on August 9, 1918 in Elora, Ontario to Annie Odorizzi and William Newton, passed away peacefully at the Vigi Queen-Elizabeth Centre in Montreal on June 17, 2016. World War II pilot with the RCAF, Ernest leaves behind his cherished wife and best friend of 70 years, Nancy Margaret Newton (Blyth); his children, Dr. Edward Newton (Lynda Harkness), Janice Newton (Glenn Larsen, deceased), Deborah Newton (Luc Brault), Dale Newton, Dr. Brian Newton (deceased) and Nancy J. Newton; grandchildren, Julia (Wally), Ernest (Coleen), Matthew, Stacey (Justin) and Andrew and great-grandchildren, Hailey, Kaylee, Aurora, Alina, Nalah, Landen, Quentin and Eddie. Ernest was a very creative man, a well-known jeweler, a passionate inventor and holder of 3 patents as well as a real estate broker. He was a founding member of two successful NDG real estate companies, Nancy Newton Realty and Royal LePage Groupe Newton. The bond from family to work went beyond the ordinary. Ernie always loved having a true "family business" and he worked for many years, albeit sometimes not in the public eye, alongside his wife, Nancy and his daughters, Janice, Debbie, Dale and Nancy J. and grandson Matthew. Even with failing health in the past couple of years, one of the first things Dad would ask is "How is business?" and "How are prices?" The Newton family would like to express a very heartfelt thank you to Gisele, Brenda and all the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Vigi Centre. Visitation will be held from 2:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Monday, June 20 at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home at 5610 Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal, H4A 1W5.
