Felicitas Garcia, aged 87, passed away on December 13, 2017, at La Notre Dame de la Merci, a nursing home in Montreal, Quebec. She was born in Macabebe, Pampanga in the Philippines on November 9, 1930, the fifth of 7 children of Antonio Garcia and Apollonia Castro. She graduated from Centro Escolar University with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, and worked as a pharmacist in Manila before moving to the US, where she pursued further training as a medical technician at the John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. In the late 1950’s, she moved to Montreal and worked in the laboratory of the Santa Cabrini Hospital as Head of the Hematology Department until her retirement 30 years later. She was well respected by her colleagues and co-workers, and was deeply loved and appreciated by her friends and family. She is survived by her 3 sisters, Florita Garcia, Aurora Magat, and Renee Esguerra -- as well as 13 nieces and nephews, 14 grand nieces and nephews, and 21 great-grand nieces and nephews – all of whom, will miss her tremendously.
Services will be held this Saturday at the Centre Funeraire Cote des Neiges in Montreal at 2pm.
