It is with deep sorrow and love that we mourn the sudden passing of George Philip of Montreal on July 19, 2021, at the age of 78. Predeceased by his sisters Leelama and Sarama, he is lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years Anie Philip, son Justin (Mollie), granddaughter Hannah, sisters: Marikutty, Annakutty, Soshama, Jainama, Alice, Reebu, Premela, Sheeba and Beena and their respective families. George was born in Maniyanthram, Kerala, India, the only son of Philippose and Mariamma Chillikkattil.
He obtained his BCom, got married and moved to Montreal in 1976 where he worked as an accountant. George’s favorite pastimes were cooking for his family and overseeing his farm in India. His interest in cooking was reflected in him owning a South Indian restaurant in Downtown Montreal. He was also an avid gardener growing a variety of vegetables and fruits (including pineapple!) in his backyard in Montreal-West. George was a man of deep faith and an active member of the St. Michael’s (Kirkland), St. Columba (NDG), St. Philip’s (Montreal-West) and Malayalee church community. He was a dotting husband, a nurturing father and a loving brother and he will be missed immensely.
A visitation from 0900-1100h followed by a funeral service from 1100-1300h on Monday July 26, 2021, will be held at Collins-Clarke 5610 Sherbrooke St. W, Montreal. For a web broadcast link please email: [email protected].
