George will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Daphne, grandson, Jackson and many far-flung relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by the clan Gordon of Lachute, to which he is an honorary member.
He was pre-deceased by his magical wife, Janina Jadwiga Babirecka, his brother Alekos Syme and parents, Kyriacos, and Despina.
George was a widely travelled, well-read, kind, and quiet man. He had great curiosity for different places and cultures and loved to read both history and poetry. In his later years, he became an accomplished cabinetmaker and working with wood gave him great joy. He will be remembered as one that could always be counted upon to lend a hand and share a laugh.
Visitations will take place on July 22 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at the Collins Clarke funeral home (5610 Sherbrooke St W, Montreal). Parking available on Marcil (one way street).
Donations could be made in his name to the Jewish General Hospital Memory Clinic (https://www.jghfoundation.org/ or The Jewish General Hospital Foundation, 3755 chemin de la Côte-Sainte-Catherine, Office A-107, Montreal, QC, H3T 1E2).
