Grace Hilda (Arnold) Lougheed March 24, 1930 Winnipeg April 18, 2021 Montreal

Grace died peacefully, holding her son’s hand, on Sunday, April 18 2021. She was 91 years old. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Stephen Lougheed and Lynn Lougheed, her granchildren, Joshua Murphy (Heather De Jong), of Montreal, and Stephanie Murphy (Charles Diamond) of New York, extended family and countless others who were touched by her warmth, faith and laughter.

Grace received her name from her father, when she was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck. He named her Grace, since by grace she survived.

Grace grew up as Grace Arnold, with her mother, in both Winnipeg and Vancouver. Her father, a musician, died when she was 3 but she always remembered fondly hearing that her parents said prayers together each night.

Grace met Larry Lougheed in Vancouver while she was in training to be a psychiatric nurse. They married in 1951 and moved to Kelowna, B.C where they started a family and a successful business. She loved making a home for her family. She also enjoyed singing in church, musical theatre, sailing and excelled when she took secretarial training.

She found it satisfying working as a personal secretary for a doctor and later for two church ministers.

God reached through Grace to touch the lives of many people in her ministry in the choir, to homeless people, Amway, and especially with the care of her mother.

She lived the Presence of God with joy. She consciously chose to share with so many strangers and friends alike.

In 2009 Grace joined her children and grandchildren in Montreal, and found a welcoming home at Madison Baptist Church. While her physical health began to decline in 2012, her ability to love grew.

Our family thanks the people of Saint Margaret’s Residence, those who went out of their way to offer their love, care and compassion to ‘Gracie’.

It was such a joy seeing Grace every Sunday at church. She had such a big smile, was dressed so beautifully and so colourfully , and was ready to give everyone a big hug when they came in. She sat in the same spot and has been missed for a long time.

Dear Lynn, Steve and Family!

We have fond memories of your Mother. Her joy and happiness to share outings with you was contagious, be it lunch or a Birthday party. You are blessed to have cared and loved her for many years.
Be good to yourselves-care for yourselves as you would have Grace. Keep the Faith.

God bless you all.

Love you Grace, see you in a little while. Time was short on earth, but we will have an eternity to catch up. Until then, behave yourself.

In May of 2019 our son Charles and Stephanie married. In October Karen and I visited Lynn and Steve. Of course we went to see Grace and to my amazement Karen and Grace immediately connected.
Grace held her hand and her attention while they talked for what seemed to be an hour. This kind and gracious lady made sure our visit was the most important thing going on at that time.
Thank you, Grace. Be at peace.

Grace, you were such a shining light to all who knew you. The meals we shared together over the years were always a delight and full of laughter. Even all the little beasties that we shared our home with were full of tail wags and joyful jumps when you greeted them so happily!
The love and devotion you showed towards your family and all who knew you was a beautiful inspiration as well as your unwavering faith and commitment to your spiritual life.
Rest in Peace,
Love Barb & Gary and Family.

I may not have been Grace's biological granddaughter, but she always made me feel like a member of the family - I will remember her fondly as my third "grandma". Her spirit was generous and loving, and her smile and laugh were infectious. She had a joy for life and a compassion for others that was unparalleled. I feel privileged to have been part of her world.
She was silly and always won whenever we played word games. She was a lovely dinner companion even though she could be found stealing olives from my plate from time to time!
I will miss her loving heart and child-like spirit.
Rest well, grandma Grace. <3

I remember my Grandma as always being well put together. Her hair was nicely styled, she wore makeup daily, and she introduced me to nail polish✨. My Mom had a hard and fast rule that I would not be allowed to leave the house with makeup on until I was 16 years old. But when I was 6 my Grandma decided I was allowed to paint my nails!
I remember it was a red color with pink shimmer in it, and the first color I got to pick out myself was hot neon pink!
Grandma was sweet, supportive, and loved being silly! I'm forever grateful she moved to Montreal so that our family could be closer. I take comfort knowing that in the end she was surrounded by her children and lots of love. May she rest in peace and joy.
Today we celebrate her and her life.
Love you Grandma ❤️

Dear Steve and Lynne, I watched the beautiful tribute to your mom. Thank you. She was so proud of you both and of her grandchildren. I met Grace in 1974 shortly after I met Jesus. I showed up at her door on Richter Street for an Aglow Bible study. Those were amazing days where we saw many miracles and your mom encouraged and taught a number of us new believers. Grace was one of my best cheerleaders. I can see her now, laughing at something Jesus said! What a treasure she was to us all. God bless you and give you comfort as you adjust to her absence in this world. Love and Prayers, Pauline

Sorry we can't be with you today as you celebrate the life of a dear friend.
In the late 80's my wife and I started attending Evangel church in Kelowna; which was also Graces church at the time. Shortly after I attended a three day Missions Fest in Vancouver with Grace, where I got to know her a little better, including her joyful and sometimes mischievous side.
Several years later as God impressed on me to switch from prison ministry volunteering, to starting a charity to do that full time; Grace became our first monthly donor. Her support before anyone else bought in, meant the world to us. We also knew that she had a tight relationship with the Master (Jesus); so we took that as His endorsement as well. Though she didn't have a lot to give monetarily, she gave and prayed for us faithfully for many years, long after she left Kelowna - and she always included a card with some encouraging thought or exhortation. Earth has lost a dear saint in her passing; but I look forward to reuniting with her in glory.
Respectfully
Rob & Brenda Baskin
