Jeannie passed away peacefully after a long illness on January 19 in Montreal. Born in Roanoke, VA she attended Wellesley college in Boston and worked as an editor and author in the children's book division of Doubleday in New York after her graduation. Jeannie moved to Canada in 1968 and made Montreal her home for the rest of her life. She was actively involved in her community, both volunteering and serving on the boards of a number of local institutions, including the Trafalgar School for Girls, the Château Ramezay Museum, and, for many years, the Prospect Belvedere residence. Her kindness, wit, warmth, and generosity are fondly remembered by her husband John, and her children Rolf (Çağla) and Anna, and her grandchildren, as well as her extended family, and her many friends both far and near.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2024 at the Collins Clarke Funeral Home, 5610 rue Sherbrooke O in Montreal, QC from 11:00 - 13:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prospect Belvedere Services Corporation at www.canadahelps.org.
