It is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved mother Joan passed away in Magog, QC at the age of 96 after a long and vibrant life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Joan was predeceased by her husband Gerry and her daughter Chrystine. She leaves behind to mourn, her children Carol, Martin (Catherine), Gerry jr (Vicki), Barbara (Yves), Sylvia (Mathias) and Cynthia (Paul). She also leaves in mourning many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and one great-great grandson.
Joan was born in Hove, Sussex, England. She married Gerry Poirier, a Canadian soldier and came to Canada in 1946 and was a Staff-Sergeant in the Canadian Women's Army Corps (CWACs) militia. She retired at 65 after many years with the Consolidated-Bathurst Co., and became actively involved in community and senior organizations in the Montreal borough of NDG. All her life, Joan maintained a keen interest in the performing arts and played many small parts in a number of theatre and film productions.
Viewing will be at Collins Clarke MacGillvray White Funeral Homes, 5610 Sherbrooke O, Montréal, QC H4A 1W5 on Sunday January 15, 2017 from 11:00 to 13:00hrs followed by a short Service.
