Lorenzina Slunder

Born in 1932 in the Julian Alps of Italy, she emigrated to Canada in 1957 to join her mother, brothers, and sisters as they built new lives together in their adopted country. She embraced her new home without ever letting her Slovenian and Italian roots fade, living as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She passed away quietly, having lived independently and with great dignity until near the end.

Wife of the late Augusto IERONCIG, she was the mother of one son, David, cherished by her daughter-in-law, Manon, and a proud "Nonna" to her grandson, Tristan. They were the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Marcello, and her sister, Agostina, along with many nieces, nephews friends and caretakers who will remember her quiet strength and her kindness. Rina was predeceased by Maria, Marco, and Joe.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate a life well lived, and to take a quiet moment to remember Rina in their own way.

She will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

C'est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Lorenzina « Rina » Slunder, dans sa 94e année, survenu le 11 juillet 2026 à Montréal.

Née en 1932 dans les Alpes juliennes, en Italie, elle a immigré au Canada en 1957 pour y rejoindre sa mère, ses frères et ses sœurs, avec qui elle a bâti une nouvelle vie dans leur pays d'adoption. Elle a embrassé cette nouvelle terre sans jamais laisser s'éteindre ses racines slovènes et italiennes, en épouse, mère et grand-mère dévouée. Elle s'est éteinte paisiblement, ayant vécu de façon autonome et avec une grande dignité jusqu'à la toute fin.

Épouse de feu Augusto IERONCIG, elle laisse dans le deuil son fils unique, David, sa belle-fille bien-aimée, Manon, et son petit-fils, Tristan, pour qui elle était une « Nonna » comblée. Ils étaient la lumière de sa vie. Elle laisse également son frère, Marcello, sa sœur, Agostina, ainsi que de nombreux neveux, nièces, amis et aidants qui se souviendront de sa force tranquille et de sa bonté. Rina a été précédée dans la mort par Maria, Marco et Joe.

La famille et les amis sont invités à célébrer une vie bien remplie, et à prendre un moment pour se souvenir de Rina, chacun à sa manière.

Elle manquera profondément à tous ceux qui ont eu le privilège de la connaître et qui garderont d'elle un tendre souvenir.
