Margaret McLaughlin

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Margaret Ellen McLaughlin, just shy of her 101st birthday, on Monday September 22nd, 2025. She leaves in mourning nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Born in Outremont to Anne Griffin and John Charles McLaughlin, Margaret was the youngest of seven children. Margaret graduated from The Sacred Heart Convent and remained active in the Alumnae Association; eventually being elected the first Canadian President of the American Association of Alumnae of the Sacred Heart Convents.

Margaret was an administrator in the Dental Department of the Montreal Children’s Hospital. In retirement she volunteered at the Greene Avenue Center. An avid lawn bowler, she briefly held the position of President of Westmount Lawn Bowling. At bridge she was almost unbeatable.

Margaret was close to her siblings and mourned each of their passings. She was devoted to her nieces and nephews and their families and kept in touch. Family brought her joy. A kind and loyal friend, she will be missed by all who knew her. She entertained endlessly and was a gracious host, always ready for a get-together.

A funeral mass will take place at the Ascension of Our Lord Parish, in Westmount, located at 375 Kitchener Ave, on Friday September 26th, 2025 at 11:00, with burial to follow. The family will greet mourners and receive condolences at 10:30.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Ascension of Our Lord Parish.
