Teresa was born on June 26, 1932 in Baranello, Italy to her late parents Giuseppe and Antonia (nee Di Nallo).
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Giovanni; daughter, Connie (Arnaldo); son, Angelo; four brothers, Antonio (Teresa-deceased), Nicola (Anna), Angelo (Lilianne), Giovanni (Irma-deceased).
Teresa is survived by her son, Jimmy (Norma) and her daughter Pina as well as her granddaughter Tamara and three grandsons, Joseph (Melissa), Christopher (Amy) and Arnie Jr. (Virginia); eleven great grand-children, Connie Anne, Tristan, Gabriel, Joseph, Michelle, Benjamin, Olivia, Valentina, Sophie, Emily and Audrina; sister, Lucia (Dominic); brothers, Mario (Maureen) and Andy (Cathy); as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and close friends.
She married the love of her life on April 9, 1951 in Mirabello, Italy. They moved to Canada with their young family in November 1956 and settled in Montreal.
It was here that she worked multiple jobs and raised her children, all while helping to provide and care for her extended family including siblings, nieces and nephews. She was incredibly devoted to her family and took great pride in cooking and baking for holidays and family get-togethers.
She loved working in her vegetable garden and was a devout Catholic. She spent a lot of her time at her parish, Ste-Catherine-de-Sienne (NDG) and was part of the Senior Citizens’ Women’s Club of NDG and the Centre Donne where she helped organize many fundraisers to donate to causes including the Montreal Children’s Hospital, until her decline in health due to Dementia.
Teresa was a strong, honest, loving mother and Nonna who gave the warmest hugs and whose laugh echoes in our hearts. She was happiest surrounded by those she loved and was loved by all who surrounded her. She will be greatly missed and is surely smiling down at us all, surrounded by the loved ones she is now reunited with.
Regretfully, due to the restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic, a funeral will not be possible at this time. We also ask that you refrain from sending flowers to the family in compliance with those same restrictions.
A special memorial service will be held in the future and donations may be made, in honor of Teresa, to the Montreal Children’s Hospital by calling 514-934-4846 or visiting https://fondationduchildren.com/en/fundraising/remembering-teresa-di-giglio
