AVIS DE DÉCÈS

Mary Baverstock (née Gresko)

28 août 1925 – 17 février 2020
Avis de décès de Mary Baverstock (née Gresko)
AUX SOINS DE

Résidences funéraires Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Homes

After a short illness, our dear mother passed away at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Baverstock, Mom is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Sadler and her late husband Robert Sadler, Marlene Michaelsen and her husband Willard Michaelsen, and Deborah Angelus and her husband Joseph Angelus. She was the adoring grandmother to Tiffany Sadler and Pascal Lachapelle, Matthew Angelus and Gaby Gonzalez-Sirois, and Amanda Angelus and Giovanni Palumbo. She was also the proudest Baba and Nanny Granny to Maverick and Sawyer Tatarinov, Jeremy and Anne-Sophie Lachapelle, and Ariana and Sophia Palumbo. She will be sadly missed by her sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Born in Svidnik, Czechoslovakia, Mom came to Canada in the late 1920s with her parents, Anna and John Gresko, and her older brothers John and Michael Gresko. Mary met and married the man of her dreams, and raised her daughters in Montréal and then in Greenfield Park. She and Dad were married for more than 54 years. Mom was a devoted wife and stay-at-home mom and she raised her daughters in a loving home. She volunteered at the Greenfield Park Legion, the CLSC Benny Crescent, and was affectionately known as Miss Mary to the children she read with at Cedar Street School and Royal Oak School. When Dad retired, they spent almost 25 years living in Vero Beach, Florida in the winter and South Stukely, Québec in the summer. Mom was a devoted mother and grandmother who delighted in watching her children grow and doted on them with delicious cookies. She loved to bowl and was part of the St. Monica’s Bowling League up until she became ill. She will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, her wit, and her love and devotion to her family.

Thanks to her friends at the Vista and to the many people who cared for her (the cafeteria staff, the nursing staff, and the receptionists). We would also like to thank the many doctors and nurses who cared for Mom while at the Royal Victoria Hospital.

Visitation will take place at Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home at 5610 rue Sherbrooke Ouest in NDG on March 4, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A memorial mass will take place on March 5, 2020 at St. Monica’s Parish located at 6405 de Terrebonne in NDG at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Royal Victoria Hospital Foundation or the McGill University Health Centre Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
