Nancy Lynn Gamble passed away on July 4, 2025, at McGill University Health Centre after a brief illness. She was born in Montreal on November 10, 1955, the second of Warren and Lois Gamble's four daughters, affectionately known as the "Gamble Girls."
Nancy's proudest personal achievement was the birth of her beloved daughter Emily Claire Gamble. She delighted in being a mother and raised Emily with her trademark combination of good humor, quick wit, sense of adventure, and unflinching (some might say brutal) honesty. Nancy was also an adoptive mother and confidant to many of Emily's close friends.
She spent more than 40 years dedicated to her vocational calling as a nurse at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Catherine Booth. Nancy's final professional adventure was teaching the next generation of healthcare workers at Montreal's Shadd Academy.
Nancy loved a good book, travel, kayaking, Coronation Street, a cold beverage, and an afternoon nap. She brought personality to every conversation with wit, sarcasm, and a side of gallows humor. She was a mentor, unfiltered advice-giver, and friend to all. She was especially passionate about time on Curran Lake in her family's cottage, which was built by her grandfather.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Emily. She leaves behind three sisters: Jennifer (Lloyd), Valerie (Jay), and Sarah. She is also survived by her uncle, Stuart Gamble. Joining in mourning are her nieces and nephews, Matt, Sean, Rachel, Beth, and Laura. She was predeceased by her parents, Warren and Lois Gamble. Also mourning her passing are 11 great-nieces and nephews, many cousins and second cousins, and countless friends all over the city of Montreal and beyond.
We will celebrate Nancy's life and mourn her death with visitation between 3-5 and 7-9 pm on July 11 and a funeral service at 2 pm on July 12. The funeral and visitation will be held at Collins Clarke Funeral Home (5610 Sherbrooke Street West). A reception will follow. Please join us to remember our beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Everyone has a story of how Nancy Gamble touched their lives. It would bring us comfort to hear yours.
