Olga Athanassiadis

Notre mère bien aimée nous a quitté à 96 ans, à Montréal. Fille de Evagelia et Antoni Laskaridis, soeur de Kiki, Maritsa et Antoni. Epouse du feu Athanas Athanassiadis. Elle laisse dans le deuil ses filles Kiki et Antonia, ses petits enfants Luka et Florent, ses neveux Alex (Georgia), Lily (Vince) et leurs enfants, Georgio (Yanna) et leurs enfants, les enfants du feu neveux Evgenio, ses neveux Emile (Vasso) et leurs enfants et Marie-Laurence et ses enfants ainsi que sa famille élargie aux Etats-Unis, en Grèce et en France. Notre mère était une femme résiliente et courageuse qui a quitté la Grèce et sa famille en 1960 pour rejoindre notre père à Montréal. Elle accordait une grande importance aux valeurs religieuses et familiales. Elle était aimée par tous par sa gentillesse, son respect des autres et son ouverture. Elle voyait toujours les bons côtés de la vie. Parmi ses intérêts et passions, elle aimait particulièrement le chant choral, la couture/broderie et participait aux activités sociales et culturelles de la communauté grecque.

Nous tenons à remercier de tout coeur le personnel de la Résidence Outremont, un milieu aimant, accueillant et stimulant qui est devenue sa 2e maison pendant 18 ans. Nous voulons aussi remercier les unités de médecine interne et des soins palliatifs de l’Hôpital general Juif.

Nous nous réconfortons de penser qu'elle est de nouveau réuni avec son mari et ses êtres chers qui veillent tous sur nous.

Pour honorer sa mémoire, la famille propose des dons à la Fondation de l’HGJ, destinés à l’unité de soins palliatifs, ou à la Communauté hellénique de Montréal.

Mrs. Olga Laskaridis Athanassiadis

Our beloved mother passed away at the age of 96 in Montreal. She was the daughter of Evagelia and Antoni Laskaridis and sister to Kiki, Maritsa, and Antoni. She was the wife of the late Athanas Athanassiadis. She leaves to mourn her daughters, Kiki and Antonia; her cherished grandchildren, Luka and Florent; her nephews Alex (Georgia), Lily (Vince) and their children; Georgio (Yanna) and their children; the children of her late nephew Evgenio; her nephew Emile (Vasso) and their children; and her niece Marie-Laurence and her children. She will also be fondly remembered by her extended family and friends in the United States, Greece, and France.

Our mother was a resilient and courageous woman who left Greece and her family in 1960 to join our father in Montreal. She held dear the values of faith and family throughout her life.

She was loved by all for her kindness, respect for others, and openness. She always saw the bright side of life. Her many interests and passions included choral singing, sewing and embroidery, and active participation in the social and cultural life of the Greek community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Résidence Outremont, a loving, welcoming, and stimulating environment that became her second home for 18 years. We also wish to thank the internal medicine and palliative care units at the Jewish General Hospital for their compassionate care.

We take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her husband and loved ones who now watch over us.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the JGH Foundation to benefit the Palliative Care Unit, or the Hellenic Community of Montreal.
