Richard Charles Harris

30 août 19445 janvier 2021

Passed away unexpectedly in Montreal on January 5, 2021. Son of the late Wilfred and Viola Harris. Cherished husband of Kathleen (née Walsh) and dearest Dad to Mark (Daniel), Erin (Diego), and Aileen (Simon). Big brother to Craig, much loved brother-in-law to the Walsh clan, and caring uncle to his nieces and nephews.

Richard was a passionate train aficionado and traveller, the conductor of the Harris Christmas Village, an avid gardener, and never one to shy away from hard work or lending a helping hand. His zest for life and storytelling shone through with his family, train buddies, friends, and neighbours.

The family wishes to thank the wonderfully caring and dedicated staff of the Montreal General Hospital ICU. If you wish to honour Richard’s memory, a donation to the Montreal General Hospital Foundation in attribution to the ICU or to his favourite organizations (Chez Doris Women’s Shelter Foundation or the Welcome Hall Mission) would be sincerely appreciated.

Godspeed, Dickie.

To Kathleen & family - Our deepest condolences to you and your family on the loss of your dear Richard. He was such a loving and giving man who enjoyed talking about his love of trains and the times you would both just get the train and go anywhere across Canada etc. He loved life and was very animated when he discussed his trains. We got to know him later in life and for us, it was a complete joy, and we always looked forward to his stories. He loved showing us his beautiful setup of all his trains and their towns etc. and we loved and were in awe of all the work and thought that went into that. We are sure he will be missed by many besides his family. It was a joy getting to know him and he will be missed by both of us as well.
Gone too soon. R.I.P. Richard
