With profound sadness, we say farewell to a wonderful husband, a loving father and grandfather, an inspired physician, a distinguished athlete, published author and inveterate traveller. Bob is mourned by his wife Claire Veilleux Brodrick, her daughters Annie-Claude Banville (Jean-François Chénier) and Brigitte Banville (Christopher Palin), and his children with the late Eleanor Brodrick, Lynne (Sandy Cochrane), Jo (Terry Poile), Robbie (Helen Reece) and Mark (Marsha Adams). He is predeceased by his daughter Laurie. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren: Christopher, Stephen, Robin, Cameron, Daniel, Mathilde, Sandrine, Guillaume, Charles and Thomas who together brought him so much pleasure. Along with those who knew and loved Dr. Bob, they will miss his endless optimism and smile, his curiosity and intelligence, his genuine interest in others, his music and his values. Bob attended Loyola High School and went on to Loyola College where he received numerous awards including the Governor General's Medal and being inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame. He then studied medicine at McGill University, graduating in 1947. His career as a devoted physician spanned almost 50 years at Canadair, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and as a Lecturer in the Department of Medicine and Clinical Medicine at McGill University. He received an Honorary Doctorate from Concordia University. Distinguished academician and doctor, he combined medicine with his love of sports. While studying medicine, he captained the McGill Redmen to the Canadian Intercollegiate Hockey Championship in 1945-46 before going on to play for the Montreal Royals and the Streatham Hockey Club of London England. He became the Medical Director for the Montreal Expos (1969-1994) and later held the position of President of the Major League Baseball Physician's Association. The family wishes to thank his long time physician Dr. Tim Meagher and the compassionate and devoted staff at the Mount Sinai Palliative Care Unit. As a tribute to two of Bob's passions in life, education and medicine, donations in his name may be made to Loyola High School Foundation, 7272 Sherbrooke St. W., Montreal, QC, H4B1R2, or Queen Elizabeth Health Complex Foundation, 2100 Marlowe Avenue, Suite 102, Montreal, QC, H4A 3L5.
