One year after his passing, Robert Telfer remains in the hearts and minds of those who knew him. He is remembered for his charisma, intellectual curiosity, and ability to make people laugh.
Robert (Bob) passed away on January 21, 2022, at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, at the age of 91. He faced his final days with dignity, courage and his usual sense of humour.
Bob was born in 1930, in Montreal, Quebec, to proud parents Henry Telfer and Gladys Mowatt, and grew up in the suburb of Hampstead. At a young age, he took over the family business, Mowatt & Moore, with his brother Bill, and worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over fifty years.
In 1959, Bob met the love of his life, Nicole Sirois, at a medical convention in Prince Edward Island. Just over a year later, they were married. They spent 61 years together, raising a son, Richard, who went on to become an engineer, making Bob very proud.
An avid golfer, Bob was an active and longtime member of the Beaconsfield Golf Club, as well as the Summerlea Golf Club, where he served as the Mens Captain in 1987. He enjoyed watching professional golf, hockey and, most of all, Canadian football. He was also a talented and creative artist who enjoyed doing graphic design in his spare time.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Gladys, his brother Bill, his sister Nancy, and his nephew John. His wife, Nicole, passed away on November 3, 2022. He is survived by his son Richard, his nieces, Tracy and Wendy, and his nephew Jim.
He will be forever missed.
A funeral service will be held on a date to be announced at a later time. A donation in Bob’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
