December 19, 1929 – April 12, 2025
It is with great sadness that our family announce the passing of Theresia Lovasi (nee Kovi). Theresia passed away on April 12, 2025 at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her husband Lorinc, will be lovingly remembered by her children Mary (John), Larry (Johanne) and Johanne (Liliane); by her grandchildren Jonathan (Catherine), Matthew (Marie-Claude), Steven and Kevin; by her great grandchildren Liam, Livia, Anne-Sophie, Cami, Felix, Daphne and Charly; nephew Rudolph (Trudy) and other family and friends.
Mom was born in December 1929 in Kislod, Hungary to Fulop and Maria. She was an only child and was very close to her paternal grandmother. After the war, mom came to Canada by ship, on her own, to marry our dad.
One of her passions was sewing. She was able to work most of her years in the sewing industry. Mom was also a great cook. No one could make strudel, donuts, cookies and cakes like mom.
Mom passed on her strong work ethic, common sense and love of life to all her family. She always had a smile on her face. She will be so greatly missed.
She will also be remembered for her resilient determination and perseverance, overcoming every hurdle she faced.
We would like to thank the “Chateau Pierrefonds” for taking such good care of our mom in her final years. Although mom had dementia, she still knew her children and grandchildren – not so much her great grandchildren (too many to remember) - and you could still have a good conversation about the “old country”.
Her memory lives on in our hearts
A private family gathering will take place soon.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society
