November 19, 1932 – August 29, 2015
Born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Tom passed away in his eighty-second year at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC). He will be sorely missed by his wife Gemma Morasse and her family; the Piper children: daughters Leslie (Erik Austin) and Alison and son Corey; granddaughter Kirsten; and his many friends in Montreal and Toronto.
Tom graduated from McMaster University and was an insurance sales representative and investment advisor for Great West Life for most of his long career, earning the Chartered Life Underwriter designation. He was a generous donator to humanitarian causes and always made time for community service, including volunteering for St. Philip’s Church in Montreal West and the Optimus Ltd. Investment Club for many years. He was well known for his incredible sense of humour, socially extraverted nature and deep interest in and commentary about politics and current affairs. He shared his love of travel, skiing, tennis and golf with his companion of 32 years, Gemma. He was predeceased by his beloved parents Clifford Earl and Beatrice Olive, and by his sister Olive Jane Reynolds, with whom he had a close bond and rapport.
On September 5, 2015, a visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon, at the Collins Clarke MacGillvray White Funeral Home, 5610 Sherbrooke St. West, tel: 514-483-1870.
