As I was still a student, I first met Violeta through the Quebec group of Nurses Christian Fellowship Canada. Along with others in the group, Violeta is one of the first Filipina ladies I have ever met in my life and right away I was touched by their welcoming warmth and hospitality. Our memorable NCF gatherings for fellowship, food sharing, singing were often held at her beautiful flowery house. She did not speak much, but her eyes spoke love and whatever she uttered had weight and value. She discretely reached my heart. I leave in the east-end of Montreal and when she knew I had to do my last clinical at the Douglas hospital which was very close to her house, she would let me know I was welcome to drop by. So caring and loving big sister in Christ! She was also encouraging me to go forward with my singing. Her life will remain a good model for us all to follow. I thank God for having met her. May God bless and give courage to all her grieving family and friends!

It was a pleasure knowing this wonderful person who was your mom, mother-in-law,  grandma, aunt, cousin, friend and most importantly a beautiful child of the kingdom of God. I admired the kindness, gentle spirit  and generosity in which she opened her home to the service to the Nurses Christian Fellowship  Canada (NCFC) for our committee meetings, Bible study group, summer gatherings and Christmas parties and more.
You are blessed to be related to such a humble, beautiful God-fearing woman. Her love will always live in your heart and comfort to in this time of grief and always

Our dear Lola Viol was such a blessing in our lives. She was kindhearted and selfless. She inspired us to be strong, and showed us how to shine God's light into the lives of everyone around us. She will be missed and always remembered. All of our wonderful memories will be forever cherished. I know that she is now happily singing praises in the presence of the Lord!

I think I took photos of Violeta's flowers at almost every potluck I went to at her place over the years.  Thriving and vibrant flowers showed her passion for plants... just as she watered and took care of them, her hospitality to so many students over the years meant that coming to her place was like coming home.  Now you are thriving in the most beautiful home in the presence of our Lord!

It's hard to lose someone (auntie Violeta) who meant so much to all of us, and even harder that we can't all be together to say good-bye. We will always cherish the memories  we have of her. We want you to know we're with you in spirit-now and in days and weeks a head.

Dear Johnny and Debra,

My deepest sympathy to you, your children, and all of Violetta’s friends and family, both here and in the Philippines, upon the loss of your mother and grandmother, and our dearly beloved sister in Christ of many years, Violette.

How wonderful that we can say “A Dios” to Violette for a little while, knowing that we shall all meet again over yonder, alive and well to enjoy eternity with her, many other loved ones and our risen Saviour! (I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Violetta were given the responsibility for running at least one or two gardens there, and I’d be glad to have her teach me something about gardening, if she has the time.😊)

Sorry to say, I’m fighting a terrible cold, so will join you on line rather than in person for the service in the morning. I am just so glad that, Valencia and I were guided to visit her and you both in the hospital the day before Violetta went to be with the Lord. What a privilege to play my guitar as we all sang for her Away in a Manger, Silent Night, and Great Is Thy Faithfulness, and to pray with you all  around her bedside. 

May the Lord bless and encourage all of your family and friends here and back in the Philippines in this time of grief and loss, as well as her fellow Christian soldiers of many years in Nurses’ Christian Fellowship, People’s Church and Onward Gospel Church here in Montreal. Even as she is forever with the Lord, may we who remain remember to follow on  for the rest of our days in her beautiful, gentle ways of hospitality, commitment to serve Him in His Church, and dedication to missions for the rest of our days. Then the world will certainly be a better place, until He comes.

Now, the Heavenly Choir is rejoicing at her coming.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

J’ai eut la chance de rencontrer Violetta au jardin communautaire. Elle était ma voisine de lot. Une femme calme, aimable et généreuse de son temps et de ses connaissances. Une mentor précieuse. Je suis reconnaissante d’avoir croisé sa route et bénéficier de sa grande sagesse. Elle me manquera.

Wish I could be at the service, but I live in Philadelphia.  Valencia was such a blessing to me while I was in Montreal for my Masters.  I met her at People’s Church.  She was so loving and kind to all the students.  She definitely had a gift of hospitality as others have mentioned.  She gifted me with several blueberry or lemon bundt cakes while I was studying at McGill (2002-2004).  She will definitely be missed.

As the Canadian Director of Nurses Christian Fellowship from 1992-2006, I often enjoyed being the recipient of Violeta’s hospitality. She knew how to make a person feel welcome and at home. I know she has received a warm welcome from her Lord in her forever Home!

I remember Violeta since we met at The Montreal Children's hospital in 1969.It was always a joy to work with her.We maintained contact after we changed departments 
I admired her tremendous faith In God and her devotion to her son Johnny and his family.
I remember how she used her artistic skills to paint the windows on 9D at Christmas to decorate the ward.
I am very glad that I was able to visit her in hospital.Though she was unable to speak,her eyes showed me that she was at peace.

It was my pleasure to know Violeta for many years both at the Montreal Children's Hospital and through Nursing Christian Fellowship.  Having our  Christmas and summer potlucks at her beautiful home, we enjoyed her gracious garden and delicious pies.  Her singing voice was always so sweet , as was her character.
