Virginie Boelen

Passed away peacefully at home, June 5, 2022, surrounded by her loving family, following a long and courageous struggle with cancer.

She was born in the Netherlands. At age 4, she arrived with her parents and her older sister and brother in Canada, where Nicky made her home and base for exploring the world. Her work with KLM opened many opportunities for world travel as well as developing international cuisine and impeccable taste.

She was previously married to Bruno Sarles. She subsequently married her second husband, Daniel Fischer,an accomplished pianist , and a renaissance man who never tired of academic discussions.

Mother of Dominique Sarles (Saad), and caring, watchful Grandmother of Safaa, Myriem and Mounir.

She leaves many nieces and nephews: Cathy (Tom), Pierre (Corinne), Maryse (Gilles), Robert(Ting), as well as Nicolas (Brenda) and Michelle (Jean).. They knew her as an integral member of our family.

Friends and family around the World, from France, USA, the Balkans, Europe and Canada will miss her reciprocal visits.

She is sadly missed by her sister Elisabeth (Libby) who has until recently been her frequent travel and social companion, as well as family story teller.

We wish to thank the Oncology and Palliative Care staff at the JGH, as well as the CLSC nurses for their professional home care and support given to Nicky throughout her illness and final days Thank You all!

A Memorial gathering will be held on the 26 of June at the Funeral Center of Côte-Des-Neiges, Montréal, Québec H3V1E7 from 13:00 to 15:00

Après une longue lutte contre le cancer, c’est avec une grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Virginie Boelen Fischer. Elle est décédée paisiblement le 05 juin 2022 à la maison entouré de sa famille.

Elle laisse dans le deuil sa fille unique Dominique Sarles (Saad Mouaddab), ses petits-enfants Safaa Mouaddab, Myriem Mouaddab et Mounir Mouaddab. Elle quitte également sa sœur Elizabeth Boelen (Lionel Emond), ses nièces et ses neveux. Ainsi que les autres membres de sa famille et ses amis.

La famille remercie le département d’oncologie et de soins palliatifs d’Hôpital Général Juif, ainsi que, le soutien des infirmiers et infirmières du CLSC Côte-des-neiges et du CLSC Laval.

Conformément à sa volonté, ses obsèques se dérouleront en toute intimité au Centre funéraire de Côte-des-Neiges, Montréal, Québec H3V1E7 le 26 juin 2022, de 13h00 à 15h00.
