This Christmas morning baby was born in Queens, grew up in Brooklyn, and spent many weekends with relatives and friends at Hillside Lake, Dutchess County. As a young adult, Alice Johansen worked at Bergdorf-Goodman and went to school to become a dental hygienist. Alice worked in that field for many years. She married Vincent Nyberg in January 1955. In 1961, they moved to Crugers, NY where they raised three children, Lois, Linda, and Paul. Later in life, she relocated to Seabrook Assisted Living in New Jersey. Alice loved family, birds, flowers, music, singing, and late afternoon cocktails while boating on the Hudson River. She was predeceased by her husband Vincent and her son Paul. She is survived by her daughters: Lois (Gary) Pess, Linda (Chris) Mietlowski; grandchildren: Matthew (Lyndsay) Pess, Rachel (Mike) Gross, Rebecca (Harold) Rizacos, Adam Mietlowski, Andrea (Jason) Van Batavia, Kyle (Melinda) Mietlowski, Lucas Mietlowski, Paul Nyberg, Jr., Taylor Nyberg; and great grandchildren: Oliver, Carter, Hudson, and Lincoln Van Batavia; Elizabeth and Joshua Pess; Layla and Bethany Gross; Henry and Paige Rizacos. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name are requested for St. Jude Hospital https://www.stjude.org, and/or ELCA Disaster Response https://elca.org/disaster. Visitation at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY 10548, on Friday, February 10 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.; Service at 12:00 pm. Followed by interment at Hillside Cemetery, 1033 Oregon Rd, Cortlandt Manor, NY 10567.
