Ethel Lonergan

Ethel Lonergan, a longtime resident of Buchanan, NY passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the age of 95. Ethel was born to Wallace and Mae (Weiss) Clapper on May 7, 1920 in Bristol, VT. She was married to her beloved husband Edward Lonergan until his passing in 1973. She was a member of the Buchanan Seniors, the Red Hats of Cortlandt and the Terry Squares- Square Dancers. Ethel was a long time Manager at Da- Ro’s.

Ethel is the mother of Charles W. Lee (Francine), Maureen Kuney, Marlene Russo (Donato), George Lonergan (Colleen), Edward Lonergan, and Kathleen Phelps (Les), grandmother to 16, great grandmother of 9 and great great grandmother of 3, and sister of Margaret Tidd. Ethel was loved by many nieces, nephews and friends. Ethel is predeceased by her husband Edward, son John Patrick Lonergan in 1995 and granddaughter Renee Kuney.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 2-7PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY 10548. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, December 5th at 10AM, St. Patrick’s Church, Verplanck, NY. Committal is Private.
