After graduating from Traphagen School of Fashion June began working at Gimbal’s in New York. Eventually her advertising & visual merchandising career led her to Swezey’s Department Store on Long Island where she designed the store’s iconic logo, used until their closing in 2003. Later in life she worked in the gift shop of Historic Hudson Valley.
She enjoyed going on adventures with her daughter Michelle, including road trips, antiquing & beach combing in Sanibel. June, known for her love of Disney, took Michelle to Disney World for her first of many trips in September of 1972. June was artistic, filling the walls of her home with paintings she created. She also had a knack for doing things like looking at a tablecloth, making a quick sketch and turning it into a beautiful dress. If she could not be outside playing in her garden, she loved to look out the windows at the yard & the birds at the feeders. Though she loved all animals, her most beloved was her very chunky cat Koi.
She is survived by her daughter Michelle (Jake), niece Jean and goddaughter Susan. June was preceded in death by her husband Robert, brother Jack & nephew John.
A graveside service is scheduled for March 25, 2026 at 12:00pm at Union Cemetery, 219 Montauk Highway, Sayville, NY 11782.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to your favorite local animal shelter.
