Shirley W. Gittens of Cortlandt Manor, NY passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the age of 81. Shirley was born to Bertram and Leah (Phillips) Jeffrey, Sr., on January 17, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY. Shirley work at the United Nations for UNICEF. She was also a caretaker for many.
Shirley was the loving wife of Keith Gittens, the beloved mother to Kim Michelle Gittens and Leslie Karen Gittens, the cherished grandmother of Jennifer B. Gittens and Brie Gittens, the adored great grandmother of Devon and James Acevedo, caring sister of Bertram and Gloria Jeffrey, aunt of Kevin Jeffrey and Pam Williams, and great aunt to Kamron and Kyle Jeffrey.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 5-8PM at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, NY 10548. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 10:30AM at St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Croton on Hudson, NY with an entombment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, NY.
