William “Bill” J. Parsons passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 72. He was the devoted husband of Margaret (Loconto) Parsons, his beloved wife of 49 years and high school sweetheart. Together for 56 years, their bond was one of true love and enduring partnership.
Born to the late Virginia M. Parsons and John R. Parsons, Bill was a proud graduate of Croton-Harmon High School, Class of 1971, where he excelled as a standout football player and wrestler. He earned his degree in Criminal Justice from Pace University in 1975 and went on to have a distinguished career with Metro-North Railroad. Rising through the ranks, he ultimately served as Director of Regulatory Oversight, ensuring compliance with federal transportation regulations before his well-earned retirement.
Bill is survived by his loving siblings: sister Mary Jane Davis; brother John R. (Helen) Parsons; and his twin sister Virginia (Joseph) Carver. He also leaves behind six nephews, two nieces, and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews, all of whom cherished his humor, warmth, and wisdom.
An adventurer at heart, Bill truly lived life to the fullest. From scuba diving and snowmobiling to driving his beloved Porsches and paragliding over the Alps, he embraced every thrill life had to offer. He experienced the wonder of African safaris, hot air ballooning over Egypt, an arctic plunge in Antarctica, and treks through India, Peru, and China. He and Marge shared a love for luxury train travel across countries such as the former Soviet Union, India, Peru, and Scotland. Together, they explored over 64 countries and countless cultures.
Bill was a true gentleman—strong, fearless, and deeply principled. Known for his offbeat and lovable sense of humor, he brought joy to everyone he met. Even in his final days, his courage, humor, and positive spirit were an inspiration.
A passionate reader of historical nonfiction, Bill curated an impressive personal library. He had a deep appreciation for fine red wine, aged whisky, and great music. His integrity, devotion to Marge, and unwavering commitment to family, friends, God, and country defined the man he was.
