-Hebrews 6:10
Betty Jean Fennell was born on September 15, 1936, in Evergreen, Alabama, to the loving parents Hilbert and Aquilla Watts. She later moved to California, where she would build a meaningful life filled with faith, family, and service.
Betty dedicated her life to spiritual growth and community. In September 1966, she symbolized her dedication to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her love for Bible study, the ministry, and attending meetings was at the heart of who she was.
A lifelong learner and educator, Betty pursued higher education at Dominguez Hills College. She applied her passion for learning to her career as a teacher in the Compton Unified School District, where she helped shape the lives of many young minds.
She was united in marriage to Romeo M. Fennell, and together they raised a loving family. Betty was the proud mother of Cynthia Lett, Gregory Fennell, Stephen Fennell, Linda Lomax, Kimberly Donaldson, and Terry Fennell. She was preceded in death by her beloved children Anthony Fennell and Tracey Fennell.
Betty was known for her quiet strength, her deep faith, and her joyful spirit. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life—watching sports, participating in the ministry, and spending time with her family and spiritual brothers and sisters.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Along with her six children, Betty is survived by her brother, Warner Lee Watts. She was preceded in death by her siblings Jeff Watts, Rayford Watts, Charlie Watts, James Watts, Willie Watts, Norman Watts, Joe Watts, Ester Mae Watts, Kate Howard, and Laree Moore.
She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Elliott Holmes, Tasha Harvey (preceded in death), Jason Grant, Brandon Grant, Hilary Irvin, Robert Fennell, Gregory Fennell Jr, Mario Fennell, Gary Fennell, Xenia Fennell, Keith Lomax (Roshyn), Kandyce Swafford (Milton Jr) Kane Lomax, Kenya Fennell, Travon Morris, Dallas Kincade, Tourelle Lockett, Terricka Fennell, Brienna Fennell, and Terry Fennell Jr.—along with a host of great-grandchildren, extended family, and dear friends.

Poem by Xenia Fennell
Dear Granny,
You are the glue that holds this family together,
The Wisdom that makes us think about our actions,
The silent understanding,
The relief of our pain,
The picture of our history and
the look into our future, past, the present,
and will forever and always be the light of love that
shines in our heart.
