Jean Ellen Wood

Jean Ellen Wood was known to all as a loving mother, grand and great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Affectionately known as “Mama Jean”, she was called home to be with the Lord on March 2nd, 2023… just 3 days shy of her 91st birthday. Jean was born to Oliver Johnson and Elizabeth Tibbs on March 5, 1932, in Cleveland, Tennessee. Eventually finding her way to Compton California, Jean settled in, raised her 7 children, and subsequently was surrounded by a host of grand, great, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Always the “life of the party”, Mama Jean loved music and needed no encouragement to start singing and dancing. Until her brief illness, she also loved spending time at the local senior center, playing bingo, and taking part in the raffles. When her heart beat for the last time, as per her wishes, Mama was at home and in the presence of loved ones. She now sings and dances in the presence of her heavenly Father.

A homegoing service is scheduled for 10 am March 22, 2023, at Miller Jones Mortuary, located at 23618 Sunnymead Boulevard, Moreno Valley, CA 92553. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made at https://gofund.me/c6280243
