Marcy Jo Duncan, better known as Wonder Woman to her friends and family, walked through heaven's gates on Monday, October 9th, 2023. Marcy is survived by her mother, Gladys "Jo" Thomas; her three sisters, Toni (Dave Miller, brother-in-law), Susan, and Jeannie; brother John (Emily Thomas, sister-in-law); and her sons, Douglas and Kurt, and several nieces and nephews. Through the last 52 years, Marcy has brought joy, love, and inspiration to many.
In Marcy's younger years, she spent every summer with her family at the beach and pool hopping in Florida. She loved building drippy sandcastles, looking for seashells, and swimming till the sun went down. She was exceptional at finding live sand dollars and giant seashells (Welks and Conchs). Fort Myers Beach will forever be the one place Marcy and her siblings would always be together as "The Thomas 5".
Marcy loved her surviving son, Douglas, and her stepson, Kurt. Memories and stories of Marcy and Douglas range from snow angels in the living room, home concerts to AC/DC, and relaxing in her flower oasis while discussing life. Through the years, she loved being a mentor and role model to folks to encourage, inspire, and connect, not only with their love and understanding of our Heavenly Father she also selflessly helped others reach essential milestones in their lives. Marcy loved life, and those fortunate to know her felt her colorful personality; from Crocs to flowers and the Chargers to Squishmallows, people felt the beauty of life and color while in her presence.
Another love of Marcy's was her kitty Belle, aka Bellita-Chopita-Lousia-Nicole.
Before Marcy's return to heaven, she celebrated life and made memories with her Partner, Tom. With love and partnership, these two proved that Marcy was, in fact, Wonder Woman by beating cancer…not once…but twice.
A viewing will be held at Miller-Jones Mortuary for family and friends on Wednesday, October 18th, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
