

Lucille was born the daughter of the late Ernest Whisnant and Mary Sue Cope Whisnant on June 2, 1925 in Burke County. She was a longtime member of Zion Baptist Church. Lucille was retired from the textile industry and was known as a “Hard Working Lady”. She was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Lucille will be greatly missed.
Along with her parents, Lucille is preceded in death by her husband, Phifer Junior Allman; three brothers and two sisters.
Those left behind to cherish Lucille’s memory include a son, Bennett Allman (Joyce) of Morganton; two daughters, Joanne Thompson (Sidney) of Avondale Estates, GA and Mabel Moore (James) of Morganton; four brothers, Gorman Whisnant of Morganton, David Whisnant (Brenda) of Jonesboro, TN, Winfred Whisnant of Morganton, and Gene Whisnant (Daphne) of Granite Falls; three sisters, Gertrude Clontz(Harold), Elizabeth Norville and Sadie Whisenant, all of Morganton; three grandchildren, Greg Moore of Morganton, Chad Moore (Katie) of Connelly Springs and Jeff Allman of Morganton. Also surviving are three great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Rev. Keith Rose Officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm that afternoon at the funeral home.
