Barbara JoAnn Higgins

Barbara JoAnn Briggs Higgins, 70, of Morganton, lost her battle with pancreatic cancer on August 30, 2017. She was born February 4, 1947 in Renton Washington. Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Robert Taylor Briggs, of Roan Mtn TN and niece, Tammy Lynn Deno of N. Ft Myers FL.

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, BeEtta Jo Briggs residing in Johnson City TN; 3 daughters: Billie Jo Estes and husband James, Brenda Jean George Young and husband Johnny, and Becky Joy Patten; 5 Grandchildren: Robert George, Garrett George, Mache Kirchner, Brandi Jones, and Brittana Patten; 2 Great Grandchildren: Brayden Coffey and Wyatt George; 4 Siblings: Victoria Graves and husband Johnny, Robert Briggs and wife Kelly, James Briggs and wife Sheila, and Terri Dugger. She is also survived and loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Barbara lived in the Florida Panhandle for many years and worked on a bridge construction crew and later in retail. She enjoyed compiling the history of her family tree, bowling, spending time with her family, and giving to others. She always had a smile for everyone she met. Special thanks is given to Dr Darabi and his staff at Levine Cancer Center in Valdese.

Services to celebrate the life of Barbara Briggs Higgins will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Smokey Creek Cowboy Church in Lenoir, NC with Rev. Glenn Ward officiating. Immediately following the service, food and fellowship is provided for all.
