Betty Louise Bowman Benfield

Betty Louise Benfield, age 74, of Morganton, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, April 2nd 2010 at her residence. Betty was born the daughter of the late Ivey Bowman and Ruth Terry Bowman on September 10th 1935 in Morganton. She was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Doblin Textiles. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Roy L. Benfield, Sr.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include two sons, Roy L. Benfield, Jr., and David E. Benfield and his wife, Rebecca Anne, both of Morganton. A daughter, Michelle Benfield of Morganton; a brother, James Bowman and his wife, Jean of Morganton; and two sisters, Peggy Brittian of Morganton, and Terry Kay Moore and her husband, Ray of Valdese. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Beck and Rev. Steve Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday evening at Kirksey Funeral Home.
