Charles Edward Beck Sr.

Charles “Charlie” Edward Beck, Sr., age 83 of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 11, 2013 while in the care of Burke Hospice. Charles was the son on the late Alton Randal Beck and Mary Virginia William Beck, born August 23, 1929 in Burke County.

Charlie was a longtime member of Carswell Baptist Church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and the outdoors. Charlie was a loving and honorable man. He will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by a son, Eddie Beck, three brothers and one sister.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 39 years, Mary “Annie” Beck; two daughters, Martha Ledford and Jenny Whisnant; 4 sons, Joe Beck, Terry Beck, Bruce Beck and Johnny Bumgarner; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, James Beck; a sister, Doris Golightly; and a special friend, Faith Palmer.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 13, 2013 in the Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home. The Rev. Ted Carswell will officiate. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690
