Donny Fray Hawkins

Mr. Donny Fray Hawkins, age 66, of Forest City and Morganton, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. Donny was born to the late Vollie Hawkins and Tommie Lue Gantt Hawkins on May 26, 1953 in Burke County. Donny served his country with honor and distinction in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a smart, quiet and adventurous man who enjoyed traveling and singing. Donny will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, Donny is preceded in death by his twin brother Tommy Hawkins.

Those left behind to cherish Donny’s memory include a daughter, Anitra Bell (David) of Virginia; two grandchildren, Kennedy and Bryce Bell; five brothers, Ralph Hawkins (Charless) of Jonesboro, GA, David, Johnny, Kenneth and Bruce Hawkins, all of Morganton; and four sisters, Betty Hawkins of Morganton, Sandra Hawkins Bowens of Charlotte, Kathi Hawkins Abrams and Peggy Hawkins Brown, both of Forest City. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at the New Hope in Christ Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will follow with Military Honors on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Olive Hill Cemetery.
