Freddie Bay Brown

Mr. Freddie Bay Brown, Sr., age 81, of Bouchelle Street in Morganton, peacefully answered the Call of the Lord on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Our Precious Lord and Savior had mercy and took him and gave him sweet rest.

Freddie was born to the late Freddie Candy Brown and Pearly James Brown on February 2, 1931 in Holly Hill, SC. He was retired from the Holiday Laundry of Morganton after 27 years of dedicated service. Freddie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, Freddie is preceded in death by his wife, Maebell Jones Brown; a son, Thomas Brown; two brothers, Samuel and Loyal Brown; and two sisters, Creola Wilson and Catherine Bristol.

Freddie leaves behind seven children, a daughter, Rachel Taylor and her husband, Donald Taylor, Sr. of Morganton, a son, Freddie Brown, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, a son, Nathaniel Brown of Morganton, a daughter, Linda Brown Wamer of Charlotte, a daughter, Debra Brown Jones of Williamsburg, VA, a daughter, Teresa Brown Shuler of West Virginia, a son, James Brown of the home; and a sister, Marie Avery of Baltimore, MD.

Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 in the Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with Bishop Shawn Hooper Officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
