Gayla Denise Wilkerson

She was born in Burke County, North Carolina to the late Frank Hall and Florene Hall on January 06, 1958.

Gayla was a God fearing woman who loved the Lord. She was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. She worked in furniture for many years and loved cleaning houses. She loved her family and loved spending time with them. Her most favorite thing to do was laugh. She loved making others laugh no matter how silly she looked She had the biggest heart and loved helping others.

In addition to her parents, Gayla was preceded in death by her grandchildren, D’Angelo McKinley Francis, and Mehkiya Angel Wilkerson, and brother-in-law Ronald Burnette.

Those left to cherish her memories is her loving husband, William Howard Wilkerson, Sr., children; Candie Avery (Dajuan), Angela Hall, William Wilkerson, Jr. (Shakia), Frank Wilkerson, fiancé Monique Beasley, and Brad Wilkerson (Tashianna), siblings, Vonnetta Johnson, Frankie Burnette, Alberta Hall, and Tony Hall, along with 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, also a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A receiving of family and friends for Gayla will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 2:55 PM at Kirksey Funeral Home, 406 Lenoir Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. A funeral service will occur Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 3:00 PM. An interment will occur Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 4427 Berry School Ave., Valdese, NC 28690. Minster Wesley Hendrix Officiating.

The Avery Family has entrusted arrangements to Kirksey Funeral Home or Morganton.
