Harvey Albert Hicks Jr.

Harvey was born in Duluth, Minnesota on February 23, 1943, to the late Evelyn Hart Hicks & Harvey A. Hicks, Sr. He was married to his wife of 31 years, Brenda Heaton Hicks. Harvey proudly served his country with the United States Navy from1962 to1966 and was a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church in Morganton. He loved boating and enjoyed working with his hands. Harvey was a shooting enthusiast and was a member of the NRA and Carolina West Shooting Club. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Alan Hicks.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Hicks of Morganton; a son, Harvey A. Hicks, III & wife Beth of Morganton; a step son, Chris Watson of Cincinnati, Ohio; a step daughter, Michelle Jessee & husband Randy of Linton, Indiana; a mother in law, Wilma Jean Heaton of Linton, Indiana; two sisters, Cheryl Chadwell & husband John of Omaha, Nebraska and Bonnie Crom & husband Patrick of Denver, Colorado; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Oak Hill United Methodist Church in Morganton with Rev. David Lawrence officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., prior to the service, at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oak Hill United Methodist Church, 2239 NC 181, Morganton, NC 28655; or St. Matthews United Methodist Church, 201 Shady Rest Road, Morganton, NC 28655. Kirksey Funeral Home in Morganton is serving the family.
