Hazel Finger Mull

Hazel Dale Finger Mull, age 86, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 30th 2010. Hazel was born the daughter of the late Aaron Dale and Essie Shuping Dale on June 3rd 1924 in Burke County. She was a member of Morganton High School’s graduating class of 1942, and had attended King’s Business School in Charlotte for two years. Hazel worked in the business office at Broughton Hospital until her marriage to Zack L. Finger on December 22nd 1945. She also spent several years in Chapel Hill and Charlotte before returning to Morganton. Hazel was a life-long member of First Baptist Church and her beloved Dorcas Class.

Along with her parents, Hazel is preceded in death by her first husband, Zack L. Finger and second husband, William Mull; a daughter, Judith Finger Hunter; two brothers, Joseph Dale and Frank Dale; and two sisters, Etta Wood and Ruth Noles.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, John W. Finger and his wife, Sherry of Cramerton, and James F. Finger II of Morganton; a daughter-in-law, Angie F. Phillips of Morganton; a son-in-law, David Hunter of Lowell; a step-daughter, Marie Gwyn and her husband, HN of Newland; four grandchildren, Jennifer McDuffie and her husband, John of Charlotte, Ashley Finger of Cramerton, John Finger Jr. of Athens, GA, and Matthew Finger of Morganton; two great grandsons, Hunter and Nick McDuffie of Charlotte; and a brother, Silas Dale and his wife, Mabel of Morganton. Also surviving are many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 1st 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Morganton with Dr. Thomas Bland, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday afternoon at Kirksey Funeral Home.
