Helen Mozelle Smith Sheehan

Helen Mozelle Smith Sheehan, age 66, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. She was born the daughter of the late James Kelly Smith and Blanche Bell Swink Smith on October 10, 1948 in Cleveland County.

Helen was of the Baptist faith. She was kindhearted and loving person. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Sydney Riley Sheehan; a partner, Jimmy Wayne Webb; three sisters, Evelyn Jordan, Rosalee Smith and Edna Sinclair; and a son-in-law, George Dellinger.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include two sons, Michael Smith and his wife, Janeene of Rutledge, TN and David Smith and his wife, Joann of Morganton; a daughter, Shelly Smith Reitzel of Bostic; two sisters, Ruby “Kitten” Epley of Morganton and Betty Smith Clark and her husband, Roger of Jonas Ridge; six grandchildren, David “DJ” Smith, Kassie Topoelski, Jonas Dellinger, Nicole Smith, Zackery Smith and Nathan Woodell; and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon at Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Ellis officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the funeral home. After the service we will meet at 2:00 pm at Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Lawndale for a one hour visitation with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The family request memorials be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
