

He was born on February 4, 1951 in Lexington, North Carolina to the late James Oliver Hartman and Mary Lee Adams Hartman. Jim was a man of humbleness and the minimalist lifestyle suited him well. He was an active and devoted member of Waldenesian Presbyterian Church in Valdese. Jim was a musician and loved to share his gift with others in many ways. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 35 years, Marian Barber Hartman; daughter, Tara Hartman-Gud and husband Bryan of Davidson, NC; brother, Tom Hartman and wife Debbie of West Jefferson, NC; sister, Cindy Dillard and husband John of Thomasville, NC; grandchildren, Kyrie Pennington and Grey Hartman-Gud; sister-in-law, Margaret Barber of Greensboro; nephews, Matthew Dillard and wife Kayla of Grimesland, NC and Jess Dillard of Charlotte; and many cousins, special friends, and church family.
Jim was a faithful and devoted volunteer at the Waldenesian Presbyterian Church Community Assistance Ministry (Food Bank). The family respectfully requests that memorial donations be made in Jim’s memory to the ministry at, 104 East Main Street, Valdese, NC 28690.
