Jesse Davis Arney

Jesse Davis Arney, age 88, of Morganton, passed away, Friday, January 6, 2012 while in the care of Burke Hospice. The son of the late Elijah Walter Arney and Viola Huskins Arney, Jesse was born December 25, 1923 in Caldwell County. Jesse served his Country honorably during WWII in the Army Air Force. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Jesse will be greatly missed.

Along with his parents, Jesse is preceded in death by a son, Tipton Arney.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jessie Arney of Morganton; a son, Tim Arney and his wife, Robin of Morganton; and three daughters, Gaye Leatherman and her husband, Randy of Morganton, Carol Anthony of Drexel and Tonie Ledbetter of Morganton. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Kirksey Funeral Home’s Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Wallace Smith officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
