Lou Rita Hicks

Rita was born the daughter of the late Joe Max Tesseneer and Annie Lorene Davis Tesseneer on August 22, 1949 in Shelby, NC. She was of the Baptist faith and was a pet lover. Rita was a loving sister, aunt and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents, Rita is preceded in death by a brother, David Eugene Powell.

Those left behind to cherish Rita’s memory include a brother, Harold Dean Tesseneer of the Salem Community; two sisters, Martha Ann Chapmen and Brenda Towery, both of Morganton; an aunt, Letha Davis Martin, four nieces, Sharon Tucker, Deborah Hallyburton, Lisa Piercy and Star Vandyke; and two nephews, Robert and Chris Tesseneer. Also surviving are numerous other relatives, friends and three special dogs, Chloe, Tasha and Toby.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, March 28, 2016 in the chapel of Burke Memorial Park’s Mausoleum with the Rev. Jeff Parker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service also in the chapel.

The family suggests memorials be made to Burke County’s Friends for Animals, 417 Kirksey Dr. Morganton, NC 28655.
