Mary Frances Surratt

Mrs. Mary Frances Tate Surratt, 75, of Morganton, entered into peaceful rest on Friday, December 30, 2011. Born January 27, 1936, in Burke County, she was a daughter of the late Francis Tate and Minnie Lou Wilkerson Tate. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Surratt was also preceded in death by a brother, James Tate and a sister, Katherine Kathleen Lindsay. Mrs. Surratt was member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and enjoyed participating in the Preaching Work. She was employed by the Drexel Plant #6.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband, William Surratt, Jr., of Morganton;

Two sons, William Tate & wife Yessina, of Apex, NC and Jerry Donnell Surratt & wife Chun Hwa, of Raleigh, NC;

Three daughters, Eleanor Tate, of Valdese, Pamela Renee Tate, of Morganton and Sherry Yvette Surratt, of Valdese;

Two brothers, Charles Kenneth Tate and Theodore Roosevelt Tate, both of Morganton;

Three sisters, Fannie D. Crawford, Gloria Ann Dula and Marilyn Yvonne Tate, all of Morganton;

She will also be remembered by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Mrs. Surratt’s Life will be held 3:00 PM, Wednesday, January 4, 2012, In the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton with Mr.C.S. Brown speaking.
