

Morris Crawford, age 78 of Morganton, NC transitioned from this life on April 20, 2023 Morris was born to the late Marion James Crawford Sr. and Pauline Cauthen-Crawford on November 6, 1944 in Van Wick, also known as Van Wack, SC.
He was married to the late Fannie Dominion Crawford for 62 years. Morris attended Barr Street High School in Lancaster, SC where he also played football. He worked as a brick mason and helped build the Broughton Mental Hospital in Morganton, NC. He also worked for 26 years and the Great Lake Carbon Plant before retiring.
Morris was best known for dressing sharp, cracking jokes, talking smack and being charismatic. He had a great ability to put a smile on someone’s face and was always there for those he cared for. He loved cars, motorcycles, cooking, parties, dancing, fishing, watching football, and spending time with his family and friends.
Along with his wife and parents, Morris is preceded in death by his sisters Floree and Dorothy-Ann. Also his brothers Marion James Crawford Jr., Robert-Louis, Charles O., Rudolph, Vernell, John T., and his young daughter who was also named Dorothy-Ann in honor of Morris’s sister.
Those left behind to cherish the memory of Morris are his Daughter Marice White and her husband Charles White; two grandchildren Morris and Holly Mitchell; two great-grandchildren Ryan and Rhayla; his sisters Margret Crawford, Evelyn Springs, and Sandra Crawford; his brother Mitch Pearson; step-mother Clara Crawford; numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Morris will be tremendously missed.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in the chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Reverend Sandra Crawford-Sistare officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
